Are the avery J-weights and binders and better that the Ace weights and binders. I had 2 of my Ace weight binders break on sunday on my Bigfoot goose decoys, luckily they floated to shore...
I guess I might just need to flip over to the strap weights.

I have never used Ace brand weights and straps but I have used the Keel Grabber weights for 3 years now and I haven't had one break on me. No cracks in the rubber or anything.

I have used both and have not had a problem with either one.

Going on 3 or 4 years with my Avery keel grabbers and have never had the rubber break or crack on me.
No experience with the Ace brand.

Thats always good.....but using the same ones for 3 or 4 years is kind of gross:cool:

I tried the Ace ones several years ago and they only lasted one season. Figured none of those rubber type anchors would last very long due to dry rot.

I think our Stretchee Cords are what set us a part. I used to use the other brand and they rubber parts would break after a year or two max.
Thanks,

I have some of both and they seem of equal quality. I always make my line lenghts so that the stretchy part of the weight system only has to stretch once around the decoys. This makes it so there isn't a ton of tensioin on the rubber. Also, using a protectant such as Armoral seems to give life to the rubber.

My experience is exactly the opposite. I have ace on several dozen dekes and I tried the avery ones on some new dekes. Ace have been going for 4 years, no breaks. Avery ones are breaking in first year. They are not nearly strong enough for the 8 oz. weights.

I have used both and liked both, I have had both break... both are going to break eventually thats just the way it is. I switched back to the old reliable strap weight. Just my 2cents

I think there is something to be said for the correct line length. I don't have a lot of tension on mine at all. I have just enough to keep them on the keel.
thanks,

I think Rick is right on this one. I have had way better luck with our rubber then some of the others but it is also about not over stretching them when they are wrapped up.
