We hadn't gotten our boat out yet this year, and man its about time! We decided to head to one of our usual lakes despite the not so good reports coming from other hunters. We set up on a good spot that the divers trade around by, and set up a spread of 130 Decoys, an assortment of Buffleheads, Goldeneyes, Bluebills, Oldsquaw, Canvasbacks, and Ringnecks. We stratigically put all the buffys right in front where we have the kill zone, because we knew we would run into mostly buffleheads, and they tend to land by other buffies.

As it got light, there wasn't all that much going on, but ended up shooting a couple Buffies. After a slight dead time, some bigger ducks came around, and they ended up being big lawn darts, but we took em anyways.

The next hour or so was fast action with Buffy ducks on us constantly, in singles, doubles and flocks up to 20. We couldn't even get our boat anchored from chasing cripples when the next bundle would come in. It was fast and furious and the type of action us diver hunters live for! Before we knew it, we were putting our guns away with 18 Buffy ducks, and 4 Mergies in the bag with many ducks swimming in our decoys as we picked up.

Good day for duckin'

We get those types of Buffie(we call them dippers) shoots around here pretty often. My dad and I had a shoot one day last year where we limited out on them in about 15 min. There must have been 2-3 thousand flying around us that day. Congrats.
