Does anyone on here hunt with double barrel shotguns? Thinking about getting one but not sure whats a good brand to get and if it should be o/u or side by side. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

I have a Browning O/U that I shoot. I think that Browning is a great brand they've been making them for how long. I have not shot a side by side so I can't comment on that. I love shooting my O/U and would recommend one to anyone thinking about getting one.

I shoot a Ruger Red Label sometimes for waterfowl. Great gun, no complaints. Between my father and I, we have Red Label models in .410, 28, 20, 12 gauge. Can't complain about any of them.

I have had O/U's in Browning and Beretta. Both were great guns. I just didnt feel right dragging them through a swamp. Both were solid guns in both upland and waterfowl hunting though.
I still have a Stoeger O/S that I used for waterfowl because I really didn't care if that thing got used for a canoe paddle or not. It is an OK gun for the price. I won't give up my SBEII for ANY O/U though.

I shoot an old double barrel Stevens side by side 311 and I love it!! Bought for really cheap since it was so beat up and I ended up redoing for right around $100.
Have Two, Browning Sporting Clays Special For Trap And An American Arms/franchi For Field. The Aa Has Held Up Well To The 3" Shells I've Been Running Through It. Instant Choice Of Two Choke Tubes, Two Shot Sizes, Everything But A Third Shot And It Won't Jam, And It Patterns Better Than My X2. And You Don't Have To Worry About A Plug :)

I have owned every auto-jammer on the market. Sooner or later they all will fail you. As a professional guide I can't accept any failures in the field. I shoot a Citori O/U 20ga as my duck gun and a Citori Satin Hunter 12 as my goose gun. Not one malfunction, hang up, sticking, jamming, or problem to report yet. Point the gun, pull the trigger, it goes bang.
No doubt the most reliable operating guns in the field. I will always have a auto to play with, but my go to gun is a Browning Citori!
(Also, they have so much more style than any auto.:))
Most people would agree that O/U's shoot better than SXS. In fact, shooting a SXS in competition will often times get you a handicap. The wider sight plane makes for distractions to the shooters eye. An O/U is a more consistent performer. However, there is something to be said for grandpa's ole double gun. As with any gun, it all becomes personal preference really.
