Hey guys I am looking to start doing some field hunting for ducks? What are some of the differences between shells and full bodies. Shells cant be used on ice. What are some of the other pros and cons

If the ground is frozen, the full bodys also come with ring bases. We have also noticed that the full bodys seem to move better in the wind than the shells. I personally like the full bodys better.

They are both quite similar and i would say that if you are going to run a small spread go with fullbodies but if you are gonna go big a mixure is what we do.

I am thinking about running a big spread. Would you go with more shells or more full bodies

i have 15 dozen of the fb's and i am glad i went that way! like others have said you can use them on the ice with the ring base. i really like the way they move. the shells are ok (only have 1 dozen) but imo the fb's are the ticket!

If you are thinking about running a big spread, I would lean towards more shells, maybe 2/3 shells and 1/3 fullbodies.

I have 16 fullbodies and 2 doz. shells and enjoy using them both. The fullbodies can be used on frozen ground, ice, and rivers. The shells are little more limited in their uses with just the stakes. The fullbodies also move easier in the wind too. The shells are easier to carry with the ability to get a couple in each slot of a decoy bag.

Like others have said, the full bodies will give you more motion. But as far as what the ducks see, the shells and full bodies are about the same. The spread I have been hunting over this year had 4 dozen shells and about 2-1/2 dozen full bodies. I also like the fact that i can fit 2 dozen shells in a 12 slot bag as opposed to one decoy per slot w/ the full bodies. sure wish I had a trailer!!

I prefer the full bodies also. We usually use 3 dozen full bodies and 1 dozen shells. Just for the sake of movement, you could buy shells and make some universal motion stakes.
