DIY Lanyard question

Whats the differnce btwn the zipper braid and the round braid lanyards? Also, are there any size/length differences btwn the two? Had a buddy with one last year and tried it on, and it seemed a little longer/bigger than the round braid DIY lanyard I just bought. Thanks

I'll post some pictures below for you so you can see the differences in the braid. I compared both and they are both the same length and have the same head opening.

I did talk to several people that do banding. I told them to just band the ducks and geese that I shoot from now on. They got a pretty good chuckle out of it.

I have only shot two bands in my life - mallards. I am just not band lucky.
