Just wondering what people are doing with their lessers in the high wind ? Several times we have been in wind 20-30 mph w/ higher gust & have lots of probelms w/ blowing decoys over & they all turn around & face down wind. Even with 15-20 wind they seem to turn around & try to go with the wind.
I love the movement in the lighter winds but realy have probelms in the high wind. At least with bases we could pile dirt on them.
Anybody got any fix it ideas ?

I hunted ND with them last year, that state is the wind capital of the world.:D
I just used the stakes, pushed them in good, then used the lock feature and locked the lessers in. Worked fine for me, using the bases was usually a lot more work, and if you didn't have enough dirt on them they tipped easy.

I think the locking notch in the front of the Motion Cone is the ticket for really high wind. .

Push them closer to the ground, and if that doesn't work, lock them in place with the lock in the cone. That should take care of any problems.

I would use the stakes and make sure that at least some of the decoys are locked in to notch in the front of the motion cone. That will cut down on some of the motion, but it will keep the decoys from blowing over or moving too much.

we have over 25 doz lessers and over half of them are the originals and they do not have the lock spot on the front of the cone. The ground is real sandy here and even with the stake pushed in alot they will wiggle themselves over. Not complaining just looking for any ideas.

I have the same problem hunting sandy soil and the stakes like to turn after awhile. If they were flattened on that end it would stop it, I have thought of heating them and seeing if they would flatten but haven't got to it yet.

here's an idea. I purchased some fiberglass rods (like the one the orginal stakes are made of) and made the stakes longer, 24" or so, that way you can really push them down in loose soil. Also, snug up the screw at the top of the cone so it doesn't spin withthe high wind. But definately look into using the notch. if the older ones don't have the notch, just make your own. use a dremel and the tile cutting bit and make the notch yourself, just don't do it if they are very cold, the plastic may crack. i hunt alot of chisel plowed fields and the ground is very loose, so i've found the longer stakes to be the ticket.

The replacement stakes that we make for the life-size full body Canada geese may be just what you need.

I use the lock on the cones alot. It is aways windy here. I will leave a couple normal but face them away from wind so they are kinda held against the stop then as wind lets up a little you get some motion
