I have a mossberg 935 that's about 3 years old and i posted a thread on here a few months ago about the action getting real sticky and slow when the weather was cold so I did what everyone recommended like using light lube and even shooting it dry without and lubrication. Well this morning it was around 25-30 degrees and the gun action was dry and it was still sticky. When I would push the button to close the action, it would slide real slow then go ahead and close. Could it be some kind of residue in the shells? Any other ideas? Thanks guys...you're awesome.

Guys, I had the same problem with an old beretta 390. Also had the same problem with me SBE when I got it 4 years ago. The answer is BREAKFREE! That stuff doesn't freeze or gel up when it gets cold. It is awsome! Just use the straw that it comes with and spray the rails where the bolt runs on and you should be fine....

Dirty action spring. Take off the butt pad, remove the action spring and plunger, clean them and the tube.

Sprayin all that garbage only makes matters worse.

I would bring the gun into a gunsmith and have them do a complete cleaning- internal and external. I clean my gun myself very often, but my SBE 2 was getting sticky after the previous waterfowl season. I shoot about 2 cases during spring snows and another 4 during duck and goose season. The gun is like brand new after the complete clean by the gunsmith.

I would take it apart and either spray it with Rem oil or put it in a parts cleaner. I have a 835 and a 935 and I love them. I never had that problem. After you clean it with the parts cleaner or Rem oil I would lube it up and just keep opening and closing the action.

Hope this helps.

Alright thanks for all the input. I've tried cleaning the return spring and taken all that apart and cleaned th hell out of it and it still does it so I'm gonna try the breakfree and see how that goes.

You might want to check and see if somewhere if the action is hanging up because of a burr in the metal or just a bit too tight, a gunsmith would be able to find that out for you. I had that happen on a gun and just filed it down some.
I also use a few drops of FP-10 for lube on my shotgun to keep that action working smooth. Some lubricants will gum up quickly when cold or dirty.

Cleaning is always a good starting point if that is not something you have already tried. I would highly agree with the use of FP-10 This stuff is amazing!!!

If the breakfree doesn't do the trick, I'll give the FP-10 a try.

Got out of the truck this morning and put on a little bit of the breakfree on the bolt rails and my gun worked like a charm all morning. Temperature was upper 20's and it didn't act up a bit. Thanks for the input
