The ice was not going to stop us from getting out on the river on the last day. We would have broke it with our guns if we had to.......

We are actually using Marsh Rats. It is not designed to be a layout boat but it worked awesome. We use them to float the rivers around here, they are easy to get in and out if and they are light weight. I would recommend them to anyone who needs an all-purpose small boat

thanks for the reply. I had been looking at one of those for multi use as well as trying it for layout hunting. Are there many people that use them for layout hunting on open water? They look like they might sit a little high, but like I said, I am looking to stray from the bank sitting puddle duck hunting...

Open water...... It depends if you are hunting BIG water there is no splash gaurd so if its windy you are going to get wet. Having said that the boat is very stable in rough water. My brother and i hit some class 2 rapids on a river around here. It was a little scary but we made it through and only got splashed a couple times. We hunt them with our dogs inbetween our legs(laying down) i hate to leave him at home....I have a buddy that bought a canoe after i bought my boat and now after we had the lay out shoot, he wants to buy one also.
