Im getting ready for next season and what should I get? I hunt fields so should I get a feeder harvester pack and a active harvester pack? Or should I get both feeders? Just asking you guys because I just started out last fall and need help.

Get yourself some goose decoys and a mojo duck and you're set to kill ducks :)

Get the mojo first and foremost. Then you can fill in with either duck or goose decoys of any kind. If you are mainly hunting ducks, the mojo will make all of the difference.

A mojo is pretty essential to killing ducks in the field. It can be done without them, that's for sure, but by the time they get South it's much tougher in a field without one.

We use ghg and hardcore fullbody ducks along with our geese. Our ducks are pretty smart when they get here so 2-3 mojo's are a must in the field. But to be honest mojo and your goose decoys will kill them just as good.

Good Luck

I would also get yourself a mojo first and then get some mallard field decoys to mix in with your goose decoys.

I would lean towards having more feeders when hunting fields since that what mallards are there for, getting their feed on. I would get a fullbody harvester pack which includes resters, sleepers, and feeders and actives with a 12 slot bag and then get a doz. feeder shells. You can fit those in that 12 slot too by putting two decoys in each slot.

What kind of calls do you guys use in the field? Something loud i'm guessing my call i am using now isn't aggressive enough.

Everything and anything, my MVP worked very well, but so did my XR2, and that is about as opposite as you can get as far as call design.

I find ducks in field hunting instances to just be stupid, any calling drags them in, they flock to mojos like bugs to a florescent bulb, and they love your field goose decoys.

It is fun to toy with them as they land, when they get about 10 feet off the ground backpedaling, hit fast quacks, and start hitting them harder to keep the bird up, they will backpedal and find your call, it's fun to see just how close you can get them to your head.

I haven't been on many actual duck only field hunts, but the dozen or so I have were just disgusting, out in North Dakota, we always seemed to end them thinking it would have been nice to have a few more guys. Otherwise we killed quite a few on our field goose hunts as well.

We run 4-6 dozen full body ducks with another couple dozen shells thrown in the mix, only about two or three dozen of these are actives. So mostly feeders. With three or four guys it does not take long to set up, throw a couple spinners in the hole and ducks will suck right in. We'll also run about six FFD full body geese as well and the ducks love it plus we kill a few geese out the spread sometimes.

Set two mojos like goal posts (up-rights) and every flock will finish between them garunteed! I use alot of single and double cutt feeds and quacks, five quacks, and lots of refuge feeds. I love ducks over corn because you get one to break off and you get the whole wad to come and then if you play with em enough, they will start syncronising while they circle and then you hear the air slipping their wings and boom like a wall of 100+they are right there 10 feet in front of you and that is a incredible adrenaline rush!

You can get 2 doz. feeder shells with heads in a 12 slot bag btw.

We run around 20 goose decoys and close to 2 dozen mallard dekes. 6 sentrys and the rest feeders. We use a flutterwing and it sucks em in good.

In reality goose decoys and any spinning wing deke will pull ducks in, but I like to have duck decoys in the field as well.

We've also placed hotbuys laying on the ground in with our spread before to to add numbers.

Depending who I hunt with but the normal spread is a mallard harvester pack and 1 dozen feeder shells and a half dozen active full body's set along with about 2 dozen ffd lessers. I would like to add 2 more dozen full body feeders for next year. The duck decoys seem to really help when we hunt in Oregon because Spinners are outlawed. In Idaho though we will set out 2 mojo's.

Get yourself some nice goose decoys a mojo and a feeder pack to cover it all.
