Today was the youth waterfowl hunt here in Arkansas. Myself and and a good friend Lee had plans to take a few young hunters out for a day in the blind. We had plans to take around 4-5 young men out this morning. The night before the hunt all but one of our guys called to say that they were not going to be able to make it. The only boy that was still available to go was Lee's son Dillon and he was anxious to go with or without his buddies.
We went out to one of the blinds that my boss owns and got things set up at around six A.M. and it didn't take long for Dillon to get his barrel warm. He started the morning with a Nice mallard and after that got a double on a pair of woodies. After that we managed to work in a few pair of mallards very close to the blind for him to take his shot at. He came through for us on the shooting end of things and finished up with a limit of mallards and two woodies. I wish the other boys could have made it out and Dillon said that they missed out! It was a nice way to close out the season watching mallards work close and seeing a "young gun" get his limit.
