Well I continue to flock anything that doesn't move. haha
Here are a couple of full body rester/sleeper mallards. I flocked the back/rump area with black flocking as well as the head then went back and airbrushed it. I still have a little touch up paint work but they are coming along nicely. I am also doing my mallard floaters, feeder and active full body mallards and mallards shells.

Those look pretty nice. What flocking are you using and what adhesive?

Very professional looking, great job.
Are you going to add a little black to the heads??? Seems when I look at drakes, there is almost always part of the head that is black or really dark, almost a shadowed look I guess if I had to put a name to it.
Not trying to take away from them in any way, just kind of asking because I don't really know if that is something you incorporated, and these pics just show them lighter or what.

The flocking is just taxidermy flocking and the adhesive is just Rustoleum flat black paint. I have used this combo on goose decoys before flocking became standard and it held up well.
The top of the head and back of neck are darker than it appears in the photo but might could stand to be more so. Keep in mind this is the first time I have touched an airbrush so my level of control aren't the best yet.

Clayton.... Airbrush those heads my friend. It's really simple. Thin out some flat black oil based paint in an airbrush, and hit the eye pockets, and the top of the head. If I have to I will show you some pictures
For resters and sleepers, make a jig out of cardboard that only the head can fit through to prevent the body from becoming oversprayed, and hit them with the paint. Takes about 30 seconds per decoy, and WELL worth the effort.
The fact is that those relaxed poses need the darker heads to indicate total relaxation in the form of puffi-ness in the head on those rester poses. I know I've said it a million times before, but after running flocked duck decoys for awhile now, I can tell you the darker the better....

Actually the flocking is black and they are then airbrushed with green paint. So far I have tried three different colors of green. I think those shown were with Chroma brilliant green. I have also used Chroma yellow-green interference and Chroma green interference.
Thanks for the airbrushing tips TEAM GTG.
