I've got a neat story on black ducks in an unlikely place.

There's a pond beyond fence that stretches from left-center to right-center field at the University of Arkansas' Baum Stadium. The first half dozen years, some ducks would hit that pond during the winter and eventually some mallards started nesting along with some of our resident honkers. The nests have been successful for both. Now back to the black ducks. There's a pair that's shown up for two years now but haven't stayed to nest to my knowledge.

With baseball season starting in March up here and it often being cold enough to snow, you'll often see the Mallards light during a game and fly over the field at low levels during games.
