My mind has been on hunting and counting the days; I have decided that since I haven't hunted over water in few years with the exception of a small drainage pond here and there I would turn my water decoys into field decoys. I have 29 old mallard weighted keel decoys that I have started attacking. Now out of the 29 I have already turned 12 into field shells. Now my question is if all I hunt is the occasional small pond do you guys think I can get by leaving only 5 or 6 of the water decoys intact? I know its a tiny spread by I really only hunt in fields. Also to tailgate on this; I also want to repaint them, looking for which paints and tactics you guys recommend ( I was thinking krylon fusion for plastic)? Thanks for any feedback helping to fuel my angst for hunting season to be here already. :)

Here is a link for something I do with field decoys:

Also you can just drill a hole throw your modified floaters and rig on a GHG universal motion stake with spring. Just use your imagination and match to your surroundings.

Yeah i punched holes through the top so I can put them on stakes, they just need a paint touch up and they should look nice. Also I got antsy and went ahead and only kept 6 of the decoys intact; I know its a small spread but should be adequate for the tiny ponds we hunt the small percent of the time. Thanks for the link,
