Ducks on lake or river I would say mod. Small timber hole full. But it all comes down to shooter and pattern w/shells.
Match your pattern to your situation. I never leave home without choke wrench and extra tubes.

I shoot a modified choke for every thing.

I shoot a Modified Kicks at everything.... it is VERY lethal out to 40 yards....but if your shooting farther than that, i would go full..... full may also be a better choice as it will be better for swatting cripples

guys how big of a difference do you noticed with the kicks choke compared to a factory?

I run a Kicks mod in my SX3 and it's a killer combo.

Compared to factory chokes it's more sized to what it should be, i.e.-fact mod equals steel full. Besides it lengthens the shot string I believe to give you more pellets in the kill zone. They also slow the wad down letting the shot stay together a little longer.

I also hunt rivers and lakes, and I shoot nothing but extra full. I would not change it for anything else. On rivers you want the birds dead. With a extra full there is not much room for error. You'll miss or kill. Just my 2 cents.

Good gawd. Do you guys ever let the birds decoy? At the ranges I am normally shooting I use IC for the first half the season and then a mod for later on or if hunting big water.

Hit these birds with a full or an extra full and you will have mince meat pie for dinner.:D

The choke only matters after you have figured out how to really shoot the gun itself

I shoot a Kicks Mod out of my SX2 - my hunting partner shoots the same out of his SX3...for everything.

i shoot a mod or a carlsons full if im on public marsh, with everyone calling like crazy ans sky bust'n its mostly pass shooting so we need fulls. i wouldnt rec. using a factory full choke in your gun when shooting steel, not good.

I have the Kicks Mod in my SX3, haven't been able to take it legitally hunting but shooting clays out of the layout blind the other day doing basically every range and angle it destroyed the clays. Patterning it turned out reallly good compared to my factory mod so the true test will be in the field.

I shoot a Kicks mod. out of my SX2 and it patterns nicely at 30 yards. Just what I want.
