Has anyone tried Remingtons new pump gun yet? I have only read a few reviews but it looks good on paper.

Yeah I though it looked good to and was thinking on mabye getting one being Remington pumps are pretty reliable. I checked one out at Cabelas the other day and was not to impressed.

Is the gun too bulky or did it not feel right on your shoulder? Just wondering

Exactly, it did seem rather bulky and it did not shoulder well for me. It had a raised rib which I don't care for. I was expecting it be like an Express but it turned out to be more like a Nova. Just didn't care for it.

Ben my thoughts exactly it was a plastic coated Nova. I tried out two in a Gander Mountian and they were crap. The action was not smooth at all. Truly disapointed.

Some things you just can't improve on. It's hard to put something like this next to the 870 or even the Nova. I don't see this 887 lasting too long unless there's something to it I don't get that makes it a keeper. I do know that the 870 and Benelli Nova are here to stay for the forseeable future unless there are really some real idiots running these companies.

Ive used an 870 for many years, and will be using one for many years to come. Thats what i recommend getting. Its proven itself for many years.

I've already got two 870's, a Wingmaster which has been customized and an Express which always gets the job done. I'm not going to knock the new 887 until I try it out for myself.

hope the camo is better than the 870!!!

I dont like it at all. Very bulky, and the slide release is on the front of the trigger guard and is a major pinch point when the slide comes back.

Does the forearm touch the slide release when fully to the rear?

Yes. It comes back and almost covers it. Really stupid design if you ask me.

maybe its just me but everything new that remington has made has not exactly been up to par in my opinion, personally i dont think much of any new remingtons being made, whatever it is, they aint made the way they used to and its a shame

If your looking to get another gun get an 870. I've got two 870 12 gauges and one 20ga that i use guiding. Its always funny too see clients who's guns jam up or stop working half way through the hunt and they start having to use my back ups.
As far as the 887 I've held it and thats as far as I would go with it, right now. Give the gun a couple years and lets see what it's made of. It hasn't been out long enough to prove its self, lets see what its got.
