This is for you Avery Pro-Staffers... Do you think there is any chance of some new pro grade Shoveler decoys for 2010? Thanks for the input.

i could maybe see having some surface feeders to add to the spread.

i think it would be cool to have new spoonie decoys but like anything else ya gotta make what will sell and i work at a sportin goods store and we have sold maybe 3 boxes of shovelers in the past year and a half. not saying they wouldnt be cool to see but the time and effort put into producing them would not be worth it on the business end of the deal. you have to realize most people consider shovelers "trash ducks" regardless from the reality of how they are they will remain a trash duck just as mergansers and coot and so forth. otherwise im sure improvements would be made upon...

I'd buy a few, I like the surface feeder idea. I get the supply and demand thing though.

Guilty as charged, they're actually pretty good eating when prepared properly.
I use the spoonie dekes for a more realistic look in some of the areas I hunt, makes the 'premier' ducks a little more comfortable with the spread.

With what I know is being worked on for 2010, I would say there probably won't be any new Spoonies.
Thanks,

Here in southern california people would die for full body spoonies and some other head positions in the floaters. The Salton sea is full of those "hollywood mallards".

The last spoonies I fried up tasted like any other duck you could throw in the pan... Everyone thinks they are so horrible to eat, but guess what. If you cook it the correct way it will all taste the same, which is very delicious!

I agree. I tell everyone, if you know how to cook them, they taste fine. Not great, but fine. And see, im not the only one who would buy some new spoon dekes. The work great at the salton sea for bringing in the other "big" ducks. (Some FB wigeon would suffice too...)

With the visability on the spoonie floater i dont even want to imagine full bodies.Expecially hunting a refuge with 200 people on it everyday you need to do everything you can to get an advantage. i have had snows land in my spoonies because of the white.

I have 6 floaters that I mix in with the spread about every outing for just that. COLOR..The white shows up nice and you always see them mixed in with other flocks around here so you are just matching what you see when watching the birds in their enviorment
