Just wanted to share some pics of my huntin partners new duck boat. It is called Fowl Habit. This is a Ronies Mud Boat that was custom outfitted by my partner Redheadcali from Waterfowldecals.com, it has a Chevy 350 in it with a hurst tranny and a prop outdrive. It is truly an awesome machine with top speeds achievable 70mph with the right prop. It was pushing 55 plus on the break in trip. It holds 35 gallons of fuel and all the gear you could ever imagine of carrying to your favorite duck hole :D

Hope it's bullet-proof ! First time I saw something like that pushin' 70mph thru the area of the lake/marsh I hunt, I'd have to think twice about peppering it. But I'd surely be callin' the Wildlife Management Officers attention to it. Is waterfowling becoming like bass fishing ? What happened to the tradition of getting up early, slowly motoring, poling or rowing out to a blind, and enjoying the day? Does that boat come with a espresso machine built in too?

Well let me tell you this, we shoot back out here in the Wild Wild West tongue.gif
First off you need to understand that this boat is only to haul 2 small boats ie. Fatboy and Poke and of course all our gear. It will also be used to haul a huge honker spread out to the favorite sandbar. Another thing you need to understand is that this boat will only be used to navigate the Colorado River and not some small lake or puddle.
But I'd surely be callin' the Wildlife Management Officers attention to itYou could call whomever you wish. This boat is perfectly legal and registered.
What happened to the tradition of getting up early, slowly motoring, poling or rowing out to a blindWhen you have to travel 30+ miles on the water in the dark to get to your hunting grounds, this will be extremely handy and safe to boot.
There is no espresso machine but it will always have HOT COFFEE and anything else we need to make our trip an enjoyable one. You need to remember that it is a FREE country, at least the last time I looked it was. And just because someone else chooses to use something that you may not, doesn't make it a bad thing.

WW,
Didn't mean to start a Urinary Olypiad!
Was you say is all true. Is suspect thow that there are others out there that would/will respond as I initially did. Having said that, laying out the context in which the boat is used and where it's used in advance, would have been a wise move.
BTW, I have lived and hunted out West - CO and WA both. Hunted off the Colorado as well on the front range and eastern plains. Hunted the Columbia up to the Chief Joseph damn in WA as well as the Pot Holes. In other words, I have an idea of the travel required.

No problema,
I thought that the pics and Yuma , Az. ( Colorado River ) at the bottom of each one of my posts would have been an indicator. :D

Cody,
The boat ( hull and outdrive ) are made in Louisiana by Ronnies Airboats/Mudboats. Here is a link to there site
http://www.ronniesairboats.com/mudboats.htm
Everything else on the boat was done by my friend. He drove to Louisiana and picked up the boat unfinished. He then worked on the boat for about 3 weeks and what you see is the end result. Im sure that this is a one of a kind boat and don't think he will be making another.

WW - That boat is SICK! I need to plan a trip to AZ soon.
Kinda nice that my g/f's grandparents live in Sierra Vista but from looking on the map, that still seems like a hike!
I can hear her now... I know Jerry brought his duckin' gear grandma but I didn't expect him to disappear for 3 days!

JK,
Hey man you can make it to Yuma from Sierra Vista in about 5 hours. We will put ya up and get some duckin in for sure and maybe some desert honkers. You ain't got to bring no gear we got plenty, maybe just some camo and a sleeping bag.

Amazing boat... wouldn't want to race you out in the morning. That thing probably lets you sleep in anothe half hour.

WW - Sounds like a plan.
Not sure when I'll be heading out there. Maybe next season since her grandparents came up this year for her sister's wedding. I may have to coordinate the trip with duck season!

JR,
Just keep in touch and give me a few weeks lead time so we can get ya all setup. We will run up to RHC's camp and hunt Honkers on the sandbar and then go whack some Widgeon and then go hit Diver Alley :D

What a mudboat!!!! I hunt in the south Louisiana marshes and have a mudboat with a 350 Chevy motor, but it is of the "old" design for mudboats with a skeg in front of the prop and shaft. Because of this, I still get stuck in really shallow water/mud at times in the marsh, especially a hard bottom marsh.
The problem I have with so much power from the motor is that you can get yourself so far off the beaten path that when you get stuck, you may have to get a helicopter to lift you out!
Ronnie's flat bottom design with the hydraulic unit on the back looks like the way to go to me.

All I want is a ride!!!!!
My hunting partner has a Thunderjet. Also Chevy 350 but obviously a jet. I can't even imagine what happens when you hook that sucker up to a prop. Just ridiculous. I've never been in your boat, but I'll bet its probably is a little scary to drive. Seriously!!! A prop boat with a 350 on it, in shallow water?????
Like I said, I want a ride!!!!!!
I'd love to have that boat on those -15 days going ot the duck blind. I want to get there, and get ther FAST!!!! The only thing that boat is missing is a windshield.
Just seeing the picutres got me thinking.......
"Well, my nuts are half way up my ass, but other than that I'm perfect."
"Gimme the keys, I'll drive."

Now that's what I call a duck hauler. If a man want's to better his families income by taking a better job does that make him a sell out? No!
So why would anyone not see this boat for what it is and awesome work of Art.
Jeff loves to waterfowl hunt why not have the best tools for the trade.

Might be tempted to water-ski out to the blind, do they make bindings that will accomodate 1600 gram wader boots?
