allright everyone from the great PNW. let's hear how it's going.

last weekend started the youth hunt. i gotta say it was hard sitting in that blind calling shots on big, fat, lazy greenheads hanging in the dekes for kids trying to get a bead on them.....only to see them fly off without a shot being fired. (we called them off when the birds passed 30 yards. 2 kids were shooting 20ga so we didn't push it.)

still, at the end of the day we finished out with 3 limits. a lot of widgeon, mallards, and teal. got a few pinnys, Gads, and Spoonies too.

all in all it is looking good for the western opener on the 16th. i am headind down to summer lake for the eastern opener on the 9th. hope there is enough water to hold all those hunters.

Ed, glad to hear you had a fun time on the youth hunt. I took my girlfriends younger brother out and he was able to shoot his firs duck along with 4 other ducks.
The september season was a great time and now im just counting down the days to the 9th. Good luck down at summer.

We did extremely well on the Sept goose hunt.We got out 2 days and got 39 birds total. I am seeing tons of ducks around, but I am going to miss the Opener. Will be chasing roosters out of Vale. Good luck and hope you guys do well. Looking forward to good season this year, I hope.

Ed, it can definitely get a little crazy but you can definitely get past the crowds and find yourself in the middle of some good shooting. Post up a report when you get back.
