Do you think ducks flare at snow goose decoys. I've had mixed results hunting in rice fields. I think they help attract the high flyers but when the ducks get close they avoid the geese? Any thoughts?

In canada it is hard to keep the ducks out of the snow spreads. I am not sure what is happening between there and MO but we smack them in snow spreads all the time.

On the Chesapeake Bay, there are a lot of Swans. Swan dekes are like $75 a pair, so I use a couple of snow floaters in my duck blocks to simulate the swans. Here, when ducks are on the open water, they see the swans and head for them like a great big white beacon saying "food here". I don't know why they would react differently to a white bird in a field.

In South Louisiana so many duck hunters throw a few snow floaters out in hope of scratching a goose down that it's like a flashing neon "Weekend Whacker Here!!!" sign.
Just don't often see a handful of snows that don't carry guns - and the birds know it.

Rick, That's what I was thinking too. I even shy away from putting out canadas in my duck spread.
