I was curious what some of the members favorite puddler duck was?

Mine would be a widgeon

I am going to have to agree with you on that one. Good Pic. Hopefully I can get one in full plumage and get it stuffed.

I love those GreenHeads. Love watching them work the marsh. Would really love to get a fully colored Pintail, but they leave way to early for us. Take Care.

Well I am going to have to say that my favorite Puddle Duck is the "Shoveler". I can always find a field or waterhole with a few shovelers for a good hunt.

Mine is defenitely the pintail. Nothing more graceful or challenging than outsmarting an old sprig.

I would have to say the woodie. I love the colors

As much as I love a pintail and a greenhead I had to vote for the Blackduck!

I love those greenheads . To me there is nothing like laying in a corn field on a cold South Dakota day and having those greenheads shining in the sun.

I started out with Black ducks, they have a subtle look but thye carry themselves like royalty, but I've always thought Pintails looked awesome, Mallards are very majestic but we tend to take them for granted because we see so many of them, Widgeon and Woodies have awesome colors as do the teal species.

I think the real answer is all of them and that's what keeps us coming back to this game. If you had to do it on a scoring system that looked at wariness, plummage, flying ability they all pretty much come up even. At least in my mind. Another way of looking at is like this: If you could only shoot one species the rest of your life which would you choose?

They have all been my favourite at one or another throughout the years.... I would say my fave at the present time and last few years has been the pintail... I just love the streamlined look of the drakes in full colour...

1.Pintail
2.Wigeon
3.Green wing
and just for the record i dont think that an old squaw is considered to be a puddle duck.

I love the Drake greenwing teal and pintail, although I've shot neither. Up here the birds dont hit full plumage til the week before we have to stop hunting so there really is no equivalent to the first green headed greenheads of the year,

I agree with JC on this. Even though im a little farther south than him. The biggest reward, for me at least, in hunting, is getting a real mature greenhead. The first few weeks of the season you just don't see them in full color up here. I love the Mallard Drakes. Dakota Kid.

Wigeon! But [img=http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/6746/10004254ou.th.jpg] (http://img488.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10004254ou.jpg) those double banded drakes are sweet

there nothing like hearing a bunch of widgeon before even seeing them and having a whistling conversation with them as they settle in over the decoys at the dairy's pond.
