How Serious Does Your Duck/Goose Hunting Get? I am only 16 and Duck/Goose Hunting Is the 2nd most important thing to me ( Education is 1st ). It is a 24-7, 365 days a year thing at my house. I am always adding to my spread and thinking of new ideas and tactices that I can use in the field. Im always scouting and finding new places to hunt. I just cant Get Enough! How Hooked Are You ???

Cory,
I appreciate your enthusiam towards the sport. I think we are all in the same boat. For most of us waterfowling never stops. The off season is not really an "off season" at all. It's more of a time to work on the things that will make the next season that much better. I am constantly working in the garage on numerous projects for the upcoming year. If I am not in the garage.I am out in the field, making new connections, scouting, and working dogs. I enjoy that just about as much as I do hunting them.
GOOD LUCK this fall!

Well 24-7 sums it up pretty good. It's an every day thing of cleaning and fixing decoys,Toying with the boat and motor, Training the dog every day plus running hunt test. I watch a lot of videos which I have close to 100 now. I've hunted in 9 states plus Mexico and Canada.

And I did this to my body!!! :D

I didn't know you were 16 Cory. I'm 18. We'll have to get together and shoot some ducks sometime this year. Duck and Goose hunting has taken over my life. It's all I ever think about and it's all I want to do. I'm always out scouting and looking for new places to hunt the upcoming season. Adding new equipment and decoys is a never ending process and I love to blow my calls. I practice every day and every chance I get. I'd like to try contest calling sometime in the future. My education is important to me, but you can be sure when I'm not at school I'll be after the ducks & geese. I just can't get enough of it.

I'm with you guys.... My dad thinks I'm crazy.. and he's an avid waterfowler. Needless to say, last year hunting came before education and my grades sufferd. Well this year if that's the case my hunting will be next to none. So this year I gotta keep up my grades. So School will be number 1 this year, but hunting comes in a close 2nd...

Hey fellows I know how all of you feel, I have been doing this for over 21 years and only missed 1 season and I still can't get enough. I saw a quote that said as follows...someone ask me if I had any hobbies, and that made me mad, and I told him ''Sir I am a duck hunter... I have no time for a stupid hobby''. NUFF SAID! ;)

As all the other guys have told you we are absolutely "hooked". After 10 years of hunting theres not a day goes by that I dont have a thought about ducks or geese. My wife says it is crazy how much I love the sport but for me it is more than a sport. I serve as co chairman on our local Delta Waterfowl chapter, help in training dogs, and have dabbled in the contest calling scene some. The new issues of Wildfowl, Delta Waterfowl and the Macks Prarie Wings catallogs are alwaya anticipated. Right now I know that our september teal season opens on Sep. 14, resident goose on Oct. 1 and duck season Nov 19 and in between that i am planning a banquet for our chapter. So you could say I live, eat, sleep, and breath waterfowl. And believe it or not am happily married for 7 years and my wife is fully supportive of my "hobby" as dhe calls it. ;) I couldnt ask for more!!

Hey i'm 18 and school literally comes after hunting for me since i don't have to be to class until noon. This leaves me plenty of time to shoot ducks and geese.

Im 16 and i love it so much that my mom complains to her friends about it HEHEHE. last year was my first year and the first time i went out i didnt even take a gun and i was hooked. i am hoping on owning my own waterfowl store when i get older unless i get at lucky chance to be a professional waterfowler but im sure that every one else that has spent a day in a duck blind hopes and dreams about the same thing

Yeah for all us young guns it seems like we work when we dont have sports and school so we can buy our hunting gear! Today i went out at 430 in the morning, paddled across my rice lake and called in around a hundred ducks with just a call. i sat there for 5 hours and time flew by and i didn't even realise it. Im going nuts waiting for the 3rd! cope with it how you can boys cuz season is SLOWLY coming!

hey cory I'm 16 just like you and i have the exact same mind set as u. But like malyard last year my grades suffered because of duck hunting. So this year i told my mom i would cut back to 6 days a week instead of 7. i thought that sounded pretty good. If you are ever in Central kansas you will have to look me up and we can go hunting.
