After getting out of class on monday my roommate and I decided to hit the woods in search of some more gobblers. After glassing a pair of longbeards and 4 hens we decided to set up on a bench where we had a feeling they would come through on there way back to roost.
We set up a half strut jake, and a hen decoy and did some sporadic yelping and cutting on both a mouth call and box. As the sun fell we began to hear the hens yelping and we called back somewhat agressively trying to get a rise out of the dominant hen. It worked and the hens brought both longbeards to within 20 yards of our gun barrels. We were both able to take nice Toms. My bird had an 8 inch beard and 1 inch spurs and my roommates had an 8 1/2 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs.
