This is just an idea but is there any chance of Avery coming out with a variety pack of fullbody geese, mixing 3 feeders and 3 sentries together or whatever combo you would mix.

This has been discussed, but I do not think you will see it happen this year. We are just getting into the decoy business and there are many plans for years to come and it is very difficult to do all that we want to in a years period of time. Thank you for the suggestion.

We have thought about this, but have not done it to this point. Our feelings are that the average goose hunter likes to decide what mix of Feeders, Actives, and Lookers he would like to have in his spread. They normally have a few dozen decoys and not just six. What are the rest of your thoughts?
Thanks,

What are you guys thinking that you would like to see in a Variety pack? I agree with Rick that the average hunter likes to determine his own mix of decoys.
Tell us what you all think on this.

I think that the looker package could be sold in smaller quantities, say 3 packs. One of each head. A lot of people are only hunting spreads of 2-4 dozen decoys and having a 6 pack of lookers for some spreads is a bit much.

I liked JEDJR's idea he posted a while back.
You could put one active feeder and 2 regular feeders. 2 alert sentrys and one semi alert.

Rick- I like it the way that it is. We have different head poses in each box already. For me its easier keeping track of my decoys too. I know that everything I have is in multiples of 6. I can see where some guys may like a variety pack, but I wonder how big of a pain it would be to pack them? And, would the bodies fit in the same size box? If not, it will be a bigger pain to ship as well... just a thought.

Tim,
My first thought was not to have many lookers, UNTIL hunting over them this year. The geese are going to these lookers. Whether hunting these on shore or out in fields. Get back about 100 yrds from your spread and look at the lookers, they add a new look that we need. If I was hunting over 2-4 dz decoys. My spread would be 1/4 lookers, 1/4 active, 1/2 feeders. Thanks for the replys guys. Good Luck hunting.

I might be in the minority, but I like the packaging the way it is. We hunt mostly sand bars and loafing areas for geese. The more heads up the better. I don't have to buy a dozen decoys that has alot of feeders in it that I don't need nor want. If I was hunting in feeding areas I would still like the packaging that Avery has now. I could buy all of the feeders I want and not have to worry about a bunch of uprights. I can just buy the packs that I want and be done with it.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
my vote is variety pack not needed.

During the season I was watching a lot of real geese either eating or resting and what I found was that lookers weren't alway's standing. They would raise their heads, but still stay lying down., and their were quite a few of these in a group of live geese. I attached a photo of what I started doing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/travismueller1/CanadaPics243.jpg

I love mixing the Lookers into my spread. I believe that they add a whole new dimension to the hunt. They make a spread come alive because it seems that there are always a few lookers in each flock of birds on the ground. Whether they are standing or sitting, there is always going to be those few geese that have their heads up looking for approaching flocks or even danger. As far as selling a mixed box of full bodies, I am indifferent. I believe that hunters are going to know which decoys they want in a spread. Whether they want Actives. Lookers, or Feeders, they are going to want to purchase atleast six of each of them. I know I would.
Good Hunting!

Travis, quit stealing my ideas. Of course, I used actives. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/55434/b289caad.jpg
