View Full Version : GHG Fullbody Foot bases
Has anyone else had a problem with these breaking when it gets cold out? I've broken about 4 or 5 of them in the cold (10 to 20 degrees, just by dropping them on the frozen ground.

I broke a few when I rolled a trailer, but no I didn't break any up here this year because of the cold.

This RealFeet foot base is not made to be thrown around. I have watched people chuck these things around like they were nothing. This is a tool to get realism. We could make a big bulky foot base, but we want realism. We don't feel that any other decoys have the realism we have.
Don't get me wrong, this base is very durable. It is just not meant to be thrown around.
Thanks,

Guys,
I have hunted hard for the last two weeks here in SD. The average temp those days was around 5-10 degrees with a windchill of -20--25. COLD.
We have broken a couple of these bases but out of the 12dz we are running. We are not babying but we are takeing care of them and not throwning them around. I will start paying more attention to the ones that broke.
How has the hunting been going over the decoys?
It has just picked up here. Limits the last 4 times out.

Also put those broken ones on motion stakes. They make a huge difference to your spread.
We are running 3 DZ like this currently.

TeamKarnage,
We are researching a new material that will have a little more give to it. We just don't know if we can blow mold it yet.

Thanks for the pics, I have a question about the footbases. What is the point of the bungee starp on them?

mallardhunter,
The bungee strap is called StubbleCord. StubbleCord is designed into the RealFeet Foot Base System, so a hunter can attach brush or grass for a more lifelike appearance.

Thanks that what I was thinking it was for, but I wasn't sure.
When I saw the great paint job and the detail on these decoys, I new that they weren't meant "to be thrown around" and we haven't thrown them around. I actually broke one of them wedging it between two corn stalks so the wind wouldn't blow it over. A more durable plastic or thicker base isn't going to sacrifice the realism, and if it does, I still think that a stronger base is a better trade off than seeing the toenails on a decoy. (although that is cool:+) Just my opinion though.

I was going through my old toys at mom and dad's the other day and was thinking how much they would be worth today if I hadn't taken them out of the box. Then I thought about how much fun I had with them. I used to bury my G.I. Joe guys in the back yard when they broke because........They were dead. Now that's adding realism to the game. Those GHG's are a heck of a good decoy. I say leave them alone. But if you change them, you had better make a good change. Just like when Clint Eastwood said the next time you hang a man, you'd better hang him high. (its ok to correct me on the miss quote of Clint)
