I shot one of those this year. The head was more purple and the "sprig" wasn't quite as long.

They are awesome ducks! Matt Allen shot one in North Dakota, and it was so obvious what he was as he decoyed into the decoys. He was beautiful even up there, but didn't have the sprig. AWESOME picture Rob.

Great Pics...I know another place he would look good...on the wall.
Also, great photos of the GHG Decoys.

That is by far the coolest looking duck I have ever seen!! It's amazing how distinct the colorations are.

Shot 1 just like it 5 years. They say that of all specie crossovers mallard/pintail the most common.Good aerial shot of one a couple issues ago in wildfowl.Distinct enough that I could identify on wing,Sweet.

You should be deciding which position to mount it in!

I think right after you heard the shutter click, you would of heard the action on my gun cycle. That thing is cool as shnikees.

Of all the crosses you see I think pinards or malltails are far and away the best looking.
Thanks for the photos.

I plan on going out to set a rig of divers next week in the attempts to get some photos. Will be on the lookout to see if this guy is still around.

This is only the second one of these I have ever seen. Very cool picture. Did you get any pictures of him in flight? I bet you were wishing that your season had not gone out already. Great work.
Good Hunting!

Amazing duck, I've never seen anything like that in the wild. All we see for hybrids are domestic/mallard crosses, although they make for some big ducks.
