I am in the process of building my spread with FFDs....to date I only have 6 feeders and 6 actives. The rest of my spread at this point is silos and "another brand" motion full bodies (just can't fork out all the money at one time to build an all FFD spread yet, and want to see what you have for next year). I would like to take the 4 decoys that are not on motioon bases and retro fit them with motion bases. Would I be able to buy the cone, bolt, nut, stake and base from customer service? Or should I just drill them for the UMS?

Bearman,
I do not know if we have them in stock as of right now. We will be making a kit of 6 for people to turn 03 and 04 Fullbodies into Motion decoys. This will be available next fall.
Give customer service a call.

The retro-fit motion system is going to be a great addition to the line and also help guys get more motion in the spread. Motion will only help the spread look more realistic, especially on the feeders.

Just talked to customer service (I think I spoke with Tim), they do not have the motion system available for aftermarket sales. So I guess I am stuck with drilling a hole for a UMS and adding the motion base when they are available next year.

how hard will the kit be for next year easy to install?

A question that might not have an answer to yet is how much will the motion kit be?

A better question would be:
How much do you guys think that a 6-pack of the motion system should retail for?
In the kit will be six of the following:
Motion Cones
18" MotionSticks
Bolts
Lock Nuts

A fair price would be $14.95 to $19.95 per six, the motion stakes are about $20 per 12. Just my thoughts...

Hope they'll adapt to the pre-drilled 5/16" holes that the UMS's fit onto

Most guys prefer the bases. Here's an idea, How about making a ''replacement base'' with a metal sleeve 3-4 inches long where you could just set the new motion stakes(That comes with your decoys) into the sleeve.
This would now allow you to use the motion stakes with your decoys as a motion stake or base.

None of you pro-staffer's have answered my question?? “Hope they'll adapt to the pre-drilled 5/16" holes that the UMS's fit onto"

Right now, they will not. We are working on some kind of adapter so that they will.

There's always the Decoy Dancer version . . . . . .

I've used caulk and a bit of paint on drilled decoys that I didn’t balance properly. I will stay away from the “Decoy Dancers”. Those I’ve seen are much too expensive. Rick, do you have a general idea of what the cost of the upgraded motion system would be?

That sounds like a great idea being able to buy a aftermarket motion base system for older ghg fullbodies. Like others have said I would like to see the bases instead of the stakes because of hard/frozen ground issues.
I do enjoy the motion stakes, I used them today on my ghg feeders and they made some great movement. They seem to work better on the feeders of ghg then they do on my bigfoots for some reason.

We are thinking that they are going to be $14.99 for a six pack.

Let's hope that they are in the neighborhood of $15/6 pack. I'll agree that the Decoy Dancer add-on is expensive, but it is/was the best alternative at the time - especially for FB motion on frozen ground.

Rick, that seems like a reasonable price for the real motion system upgrade. I will without a doubt be making the improvement to all of my fullbody active and feeders. Would you consider placing the lookers on these or just leave them in a motionless position?

We are trying to come up with a different alternative for the Lookers. With what we have right now, I would leave the foot bases on them.

We are talking about converting our entire 2004 spread to this new system. I would like to see the stake and the base available in each kit( so 6 of each), just as there are both when you buy the decoys. Any more info on this?
Also, any target dates? This may be a hot item so I hope there are not supply issues, like this years 6 slot bags.

Glad to hear this retro kit will be available, though I wish it were now.
I would also like to ask that a new bag be available to fit the full size dekes tight, similar to the lessor bag. The full size bag, for bases attached, is to big. It would be nice if the bag had a top on it, to keep the dekes in the bag, when bouncing across a cow pasture on a quad. It would be nice if the bags had some kind of a snap or strap system on the bottom that could be attached to the racks on a quad.
It would also be nice if the lessor bags came in a 12 slot. I could carry 2 dzn on a quad easy this way. 1 bag each on front & back.
I would not be interested in buying a kit with both types of stands, just the stakes. It doesn't get cold enough in Calif to require the round stands. Maybe make the ring stands available on there own. It DOES get windy enough, quite often, to blow anything on the ring stands into the next county. I 2nd someone's point above for longer stakes. With the wind & 18" stands, they blow over easy. Often I set up in shallow water, so a 24" stake would be much better.
Hope Santa Cooksey is listening ;)
