Before I go and screw this up - Does anyone have the correct method of applying a large Avery Trailer sticker to the side of a trailer that has rivets on side panels? Doesnt seem like it will look correct with pimples sticking out. Ideas?
Thanks

Dave,
I didn't do anything special...just slapped them on. The pimples are not really noticeable unless viewed from up close and at 65 MPH (or faster)they are pretty much invisible! :D

Rob,
65 mph is a little slow for you. I would say 75 mph or faster.

Ya'll need to talk to Travis about hauling those trailers at that speed.

I took a sharp knife and cut around the rivets. I was affraid to leave voids in the decal and have the wind decide to rip the decal off at some point. You can not see them unless you are right up next to the trailer. I guess you could paint each rivet to match the background if you wanted.
If I could make a couple suggestions that will really help you. Clean the area good with soap and water. Then spray the whole area down with water before you place the decal, this will make it easy to remove and reset the decal if its not straight and second it will help you work all the bubbles out. Let it sit outside in the sun for a few hours and you have a flawless decal.
Heres mine...

Nice looking trailer Chris!
My trailer has screw on the outside (haulmark) and I backed them out and then pu the decals on. Applying them is much easier with two people than one. How do you get a big GHG sticker like the one shown? Any help would be appreciated.

Here at Pepsi when we put new graphics on a truck in the shop we run into the same issue. Hers what we do. Get your self a good stiff squeege. They can be found at any automotive store. You want the ones that body men use to spread bodyfiller. Next Get yourself a spray bottle filled with 50/50 water and dish soap. Actually. thats to much. Try to go 70% water 30% soap. Now, clean off your surface. dry throughly. Spray the soap/water mixture on the surface. don't be afraid to use it liberally. This will help eliminate air bubbles and bend the decal around and over those rivets. Now, peel the decal 1/2 off. Apply were desired. Start in the middle and work towards the sides. Be sure not to work to much of the decal at one time. This will cause wrinkles, and large air pockets. Take your time. continue down the decal. Now, when you get to a rivet, just take the corner of the spreader and form the decal around the rivet. It will work around take your time. Continue down until it is 100% on. repeat the same process for any other rivets. This method will ensure a quality installation. As it should be. The soap water is the trick. I see so many guys puttin graphics on trucks with out this and they look like a wavy , crinkle paper. I hope this helps. If you need some more pointers, don't hesitate to contact me. happy to help.

Our trailer had screws on the outside also. We backed them out, put on the stickers, and put the screws back in. It looks great. The key is the soapy water like Jase said. The air bubbles come out easy. If you do get some air bubbles after it dries, stick them with a small pin and push the air out.
As for availability on the larger stickers, we are producing them as I type. Should be ready to ship in the next month sometime.

Oh yeah I forgot this method as well. If they (the rivets) would'nt conform to the decal and you can't remove them ry this. Go get your wifes hair dryer. Heat the decal slightly. DON'T BURN IT. This slight heat will make the decal soft and conform more easyly. Once it cools, presto form fit. Just be sure you wife or girl friend are out for about an hour to get this done. I caught flack from my wife for thiis one time. Oh well.

Chris is right. I had my stickers put on at a graphics shop here in Reno and they would poke a little hole in the sticker around the rivets. They would then form the sticker around all of the rivets and then press the sticker down. It is very difficult to apply the sticker if you just try to go over the rivets. It is difficult to see some of the bubbles if you have them but these bubbles can cause the stickers to come off a lot easier if left unattended. Hope this helps.

Jase,
Thanks for the advice for the stickers. I'll put it into practice now that I have to get a new trailer after taking mine for a spin in a ditch. Rob...ya better back off on the accelerator Pops!

Fellas,
Chris's tip is right on! I helped out follow Prostaffer Sean Finke with his stickers on his trailer and that is by far the fastest and easiest way to do it.
Here is what Sean and I did:
A great way to avoid ALL air bubbles in the sticker is to take a spray bottle of soapy water and spray the area where your sticker will be placed. This will not only eliminate the bubbles but will also give you advantage of adjusting the sticker by just moving it around on the wet area. Once you get your sticker where you want it take a plastic squeegee and squeegee the surface of the sticker to remove all the water that is underneath it. This will not affect the stick of the sticker, the water will dry within a few hours and the sticker will be in place.
Thanks,

Wish this would have been up earlier in the week. I put mine on Monday and Tuesday night. We cut around the rivets and slit the sticker on the panel seams so they fit flat. Worked out really well. Had a few air bubbles that we popped and worked out but the soapy water idea would have worked slick.

Anyone know where to get the "Conserve Waterfowl - Kill a sky buster" skicker. I love that one, and haven't seen it before. Thanks...

Yeah I bought that thru outdoordecals.com It was a special order, any sign shop should be able to make the words. I asked if I could have a piece of scrap vinyl and made the hunter.
That saying came to mind when we were on an afternoon hunt and we watched a guy blast at geese 200 yards in the air..figured it fit!
Feel free to use it, but I want royalties ;) :D :D :D
