So I was at Cabela's last night and had a bunch of points to use up so one of the things I took home was a Finisher Dog Blind.

I got the blind out today and set it up and looked at everything. This blind is very cool and I like most everything about it. Easy set-up and easy take down. Roomy and should be nice for the dog. Now I just have to train my 5 month old pup to stay in it.

The question I have is there are instructions on how to put up the blind but not how to take it down. I can get the blind down, but my question is, how do you get the blind down and still make it small enough to fit back in the bag?

Several choice words were said, but I finally got it zipped. Is there a trick or any easy way to get it down small enough to easily fit back? Or is it just like everything else, it comes packaged nice from the factory but once you take it out you ain't never gonna get it to fit back the same way again? :D

NWMO hunter, you pretty much said it all. It takes a little effort to get it back into that bag. I usually roll mine up like a sleeping bag and the I have some of our cambuckle tie downs that I tighten it up with to get it back into the bag.

Once you do this several times, you will find it is not that bad. Like Travis said, try using the tie downs or I like to use the stretch tie-downs and wrap around the blind tightly and the blind should fit right in there.

Alright, I'll try those tips. I'm going to keep it up for now as I'm working the dog daily on the "kennel" command.

Thanks guys and this is one awesome blind!

The Finisher dog blind is the safest way for a dog to hunt with you. It keeps the dog concealed and sheltered from the elements.

You are doing the right thing by using the kennel command. For me, it was easy to get the dogs used to going in the blind. It is an entirely different task getting them to stay. Any tips for that?

Rick - put your dog in the kennel using whatever command you use. Then throw bumpers while he is in it, but dont let him get ALL of them. Let him realize not everything that hits the ground is his. IF he breaks, correct him. Alot of times I will carry a young dog back to the spot where he screwed up, and place him in it again. A check cord will help in this manner quite a bit.
On a side note- you should be getting a package of disks in the mail soon. Not sure if you can use any of them or not. Most are old... Will get you better ones soon. Hope you are pounding them up there!

I do want to add just one more thing to what Mark said. If you are going to pick a dog up and replace it to the area where he messed up then you must do it immediately or else the dog won't have a clue what is going on.

I once watched a guy working a Britney (sorry, but we call them "Brush Pigs"). Well, he "Whoa"ed the dog so it would back. The dog broke the "Whoa" and he could not get control of the dog (no e-collar and no check cord). No joke, about 5 minutes later after the dog has ran around for a while he finally gets the dog and puts it back in the same area. I guarantee you the dog had no idea what he was getting scolded for.

Since my pup is only 5 months now I shouldn't have a lot of trouble. We've done a little bit now and he seems to be doing well, but he can still see me.

We are going to keep working. He is making lots of progress and showing a lot of desire now. I hope he's as ready as I am!

One other idea that I have used is to combine 3-4 Neoprene Ankle Garters to secure the blind after I fold it up. When hunting, just loop the garters through one of the CamoStraps and attach the velcro...they'll be there when you need them to secure the blind after breakdown.

That is a good idea! I like the thought of using something I already have!

Thanks!
