Nice bird, but not a Brewer's Ducks though. 100% Gadwall. I've held and mounted too many Brewer's Ducks and nothing suggests anything Mallard on that bird. Some Gadwalls are prone to mutations about the head and neck. I'd still mount it. Below are some Brewer's Ducks. Keep in mind on hybrids all feather groups will have representative colorations of both parents, not just on the head. In a Brewer's Duck the wings may have some white in the tertiaries but the speculum will have Mallard traits. The feet will be more orange, but the defining characteristic is a black bill with a yellow stripe.
That bill marking has been on every Mallard/Gadwall I've seen, pictured, dead or live. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
