Default Redhead help!!!

Hunted a spot this weekend and suprise we saw a ton of redheads! I have only shot two both passing over the point we were hunting a few years back. How do you decoy redheads. I don't have redheads as we very rarely see good numbers of them. Mojos no mojos stuff like that ANY help would be awesome!!!

I am from North Idaho and we rarely see redheads as well. Last year a few days before the end of the season I was scouting a goose spot on a local lake and to my surprise there were about 150 redheads. We didn't have any redhead decoys but we said we have to try so we went out with our normal late season spread mostly GHG life size goose and a few GHG life size mallards and no mojo and just at shooting light the whole flock of redheads landed in the decoys. So for us it didn't really matter what decoys you have as long as your where they want to be. Hope this helps.

We get a lot of redheads at the end of the season, usually in January. We usually put out our mallards and wigeon as usual, but a little further out we will put out a small diver spread. Redheads, goldeneye, bluebill, that sort of thing. We always limit on redheads-just have to be ready to shoot because they come screaming in. We don't use mojo dekes, just a jerk string. Redheads aren't as wary as some other ducks though. They are just fast.

We shoot alot of redheads in mid october thru earley october. Normally we put out several red head decoys in a mixed pack including many other diver species. As general rule we dont use spinners but this year for whatever reason we are having luck using them with divers.... if they are new arrivals into your area giving a couple of diver prrrs through you duck call can help suck them in but most times they dont mind mallard calls if they are in the area.
