What does everybody think the best way to wrap a weight around a hot buy is. I've heard that some people just texas rig them but i've tried that and all the string got tangled up, It was even tangle free .

LGG,
The best way for me might not be the best way for you.
Everything depends on what kind of weight you have, how you rig it, how long your lines are, etc., etc.
There are all sorts of anchors and methods.

It's a wonder we ever figured out how to hunt those old carrylites with the tucked heads, since you couldn't wrap the weight around them. For the most part we found that using some sort of rubberbands. We used cut intertubes, or regular rubberbands. Never had a problem until they rotted. When they rotted, we just got more.

Yup, rubber bands. Fairly thick, buy one bag a year, costs a buck. Put 2 at the weight, in case one breaks, stretch it over the end of the keel.

BTW, if you did not know, they have modified the keels for 2004, should be easier to wrap weights around.

Try the scoop type that they sell at Cabelas they have a rubber piece with a lead rubber coated scoop attached that fits over the bill i had no problems with them this year just releive the tension on rubber strap in the off season so it doesnt take a set. GOOD LUCK!
