I have a friend looking for a new flag. Are tri color ones better, or are all black ones better, or black and white, or whatever else is out there? Do you think size and shape matter? I'd like to help my friend get the best flag he can.

Mossy,

I really like to use a black and white flag for Canadas. My reasoning is that the white portion is a real attention getter, and looks similar to the white V near the tail of live birds as they land. The black and white combo is highly visible under all conditions and is extremely life like.

I prefer to use a tri-colour flag for specs as they have more brown on their bodies. That said, in a pinch, I have used a tri-colour flag on Canadas with good succuss.

The more realistic the flag, the better it will work. However, the real trick with flagging is to make the flag look like a live goose and not
like the flag man at a car race.

Hope this helps!

Mike
