Do you have any reccomendations on hunting early season geese near the Mercer County Management area? Are there many public access areas, will we need a guide, is it super crowded?
I was supposed to be near Green Bay, WI for their opener on Sept. 2nd, but work just won't permit it. I'm trying to find out about as many places as I can so a later trip won't be a hassle to plan.

Thanks for your time gang.

Fowltimber,

I am sorry for the late reply. Hunting around the waterfowl management area in Mercer is very difficult. Most of the fields close to the refuge are leased up or privetly owned and hunted. The geese on the refuge never seem to venture out very far, especially during the early season so that makes it difficult to scout and find the geese feeding in small over looked properties. The state do have daily blind drawings for hunters to be able to hunt managed areas, but only on selected days during the regular season. The the geese are very high pressured I hate to say, if they leave the refuge they are going to get shot at by somebody no matter how high. The guys that draw state blinds normaly do pretty good, so you might want to check out their program. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Field Hudnall
