Does anyone add a few geese along with there duck spread? Like mabey 4-6 silos on the shore and/or 3-4 floaters of to one side? I've never hunted over both duck and goose decoys at the same time and wondered how it worked... Thanks.

Mallyard, i love to use floaters and fullbodies mixed with duck decoys. especially on a river set. anywhere from 3 to 3 dozen honker floaters or even more if you got em. there great for pullin in ducks and also good if you have any goose traffic. i usually run a flat spread with my duck decoys on the river tailing out and then at the head of the spread put your goose floaters. if you have a bank that would accomodate decoys definitely put some on the shore and put in some fullbody duck decoys as well.
I will use goose decoys in ponds and lakes as well but i have had the best success on rivers. good luck to you. and.....

Using geese floaters in a duck spread works great, it's a big time confidence builder, and the larger, more visible geese will get their attention from farther off.Make sure to include some goose calling as well, it seems I usually get a surge of ducks shortly after using my goose call.

Goose decoys in the duck spread works wonders. It makes your spread project more, as well as giving you a chance at geese.

Back when we were kids, we almost always had a few goose floaters out in this one area we hunted. We always killed lots of birds in this area.

About 9 or 10 years ago, I ran 300 goose floaters along with 100 to 200 duck decoys out on the big water. There was not a day that didn't go by that we didn't kill lots of birds.
I sold the goose decoys 5 years ago since we didn't get the big water fo a year or so. I could kick my tail every time I think about it.

This past year we placed GHG fullbodies along the shore. Every day we had them out, we killed lots of birds.

I truely believe in goose decoys with the duck spreads. Look at buying the GHG fullbodies and oversized shells for the shore line, and GHG oversized floaters for your water spreads.

Combo duck and goose hunting is a plus we have hunting ricefields down here. Goose decoys and duck spreads go hand and hand as we use specklebelly goose floaters out in the duck spreads as well as putting fullbodies on the levees around out pitblinds. Specks are like ducks in someways, they work decoy spreads well making them another great target in a duckblind.

I won't duck hunt without some goose floaters in the spread. For one thing, the size seems to make the ducks notice my spread sooner, and Teal for some reason just LOVE the goose decoys. They will all but land right on top of goose decoys in our spreads. We have one spot that has a shallow water shelf for about 50 yards- the water is only mere inches deep. We put fullbodies on this shelf and dump a few floaters next to it, and then the duck decoys accordingly, and we hammer ducks and geese off of it. I just plian won't hunt without at least a few.

I always take goose decoys on my duck hunts even on small waters. I take 5-6 goose floater or fullbodies.

When we hunt bigger water we use 3-4 dz goose floaters along with 5-8 dz duck deocys and we hammer them both.

Don't be afraid to mix it up, because if you spend anytime just watching the real birds they are always mixed together.

Do what they do..set-up the way they do and you will harvest more birds.
