Diver Hunting

Rusty got me thinking today. What is it that you like the most about diver hunting? To me its the sound of tiny little wings locked up and dropping out of the sky at say...100 miles per hour. Diver guys know what I'm talking about. They sound like little jets as they divebomb your spread just to go out a block and spin around and approach at full speed no more than 10 feet off the water. Bluebills are the true rockets of the waterfowl world.

Every single bit of the experience. I love big water! I love the waves crashing against the boat. I love the large spreads. I love the way the birds dump into the decoys. It all makes it great.

I love it all. It starts with other hunters thinking we are nuts. The big water, the brutal winds, the whitecaps on the lake. The hours to make the spreads, the hours to pick them up, and complain that the birds started flying better when you did. The best part though... hearing the wind roaring through their wings, and when they come down that line, right at you, hit the wall, have nowhere to go, and bust like a covey of quail. Diver hunting is like nothing else- I love every part of it!
