Problems with goose floater heads...

I bougt 2 dozen goose rester series floaters and I am having problems getting the heads to seat.. I read the instructions and even warmed up the heads before I even tried to get them on. The only heads I can get to seat all the way are the uprights. The other heads hit the back of the decoy and force the heads back up before they can go all the way around and seat. I got the sleeper heads to seat last night, but when I looked at them this morning they both split and now they wont go back on .. I have only done 2 four packs so far and had the same results with both 4 packs.

Am I really missing something or is anyone else having the same problems??? Thanks....... R

I personally never had a problem with them seating. The sleeper heads sit much better now then when I first put them on.

You are not alone...I am having the same problem with my 4 pack I bought this week after reading about how great an addition they are to a duck set up.

I think you will continue to see these type of problems as long as the dekes are molded in China. Of course if they were not then you would be looking at paying more money for the quality so I guess it is kind of a catch 22. I like the price and guess I will learn to live with the little, shall we say, personality that comes with them. I was thinking about cutting out the plastic around the head and just glueing them on. I would rather have that rigged up then continue to monkey with them and end up with split heads.

For you guys with split heads, call Tim in customer service and let him know what has happened and he should take care of you.

I have a question to help you fix this problem. Are the slots on the bottom of the heads straight across from each other or are they off-set? If they are off-set, you have to turn the head on until it hits the back of the decoy. Keep the down pressure on the head and turn it back all the way to the other direction. It should go on and have an excellent fit. If the slots are not off-set, you need to call customer service to resolve it.

I will check on that...but it seems to me that the "threads" on the decoy body are two far in and back and when you try and turn the head it hits the shoulder of the body.

Rick, the threads on the heads on all my decoys are straight across. Was there a production change made to make installation easier? I can get the heads to almost seat before they hit the back of the decoy, but they pop back off when you turn them back to the front. I love the decoys and just want to make sure I get the heads to seat properly. Thanks for the replies! Rob

If you want the easy fix, take a utility knife and double the size of the the slot on the right side of the hole. You will be holding the head with the beak pointing at you, looking down at the hole. Make the slot on the right bigger coming down towards the beak. You want to make it twice as big as it currently is. If this doesn't work, let us know.
