Hey guys,

I have two Avery Finishers and I think they are an OK blind. Being from Canada I paid A LOT of money to get these blinds, and I just don't think they are worth it, yet.

Well they are nice blinds, however maybe you can help me out here.

I find them fairly unstable, especally when moving them side to side or putting my hands on the rails and lifting my body out of the blind.
Any answers to this?

I was also wondering, how much can I get away with when in the blind. What I mean is can I wear a camo hat and move my head around while working birds with a goose call. I need to see the birds inorder to properly call them, but I really don't want them spotting me. I also don't like using the mesh that comes with the blinds. I am sure you guys are gonna recommend a face mask, etc. But I am just wondering what is the most I can get away with?

BARRY,
I THINK THAT YOU WILL FIND THAT THE REASON THAT THE BLIND MOVES LEFT TO RIGHT MORE THAN YOU WOULD LIKE IS BECAUSE THAT YOUR ADJUSTABLE SEAT STRAPS ARE NOT TIGHT ENOUGH. BY MAKING THIS ADJUSTMENT YOU WILL FIND THAT THE TOP FRAME WILL BECOME MORE STABLE.

AS FAR AS WATCHING OR CALLING THE BIRDS WHILE THEY CIRCLE, THAT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. I PERSONALLY LOVE THE MESH ON THE BLIND. THE TRICK TO GETTING THE BLIND TO FIT YOUR NEEDS IS TO USE ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS TO YOUR BENEFIT. I ALWAYS TRY TO HUNT THE BLIND IN THE LOWEST HEIGHT SETTING AND KEEP THE DOORS AT SOMEWHAT OF A SLOPE, THIS ALLOWS ME TO SEE ALL THE BIRDS WORKING AT ALL TIMES AND THIS IS VERY INPORTANT WHEN CALLING THE SHOT. I'M A FIRM BELIEVER IN THE FACE MESH! GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Barry,

I can't add much to what Fred has already said, but I will say that I was apprehensive about using the face flaps. Fred had to do a serious sales job before I even gave them an honest try. I just didn't feel like I could see birds well enough to work them. After using the face flaps for a couple of days my question changed from, "why did you put this mesh deal on here" to "why did you put Velcro on to allow people to fold them back".

I hope you can help? I ordered, and paid for, a new finisher blind from Ozzie's at the Anoka Game Fair on 8/17/02. I have been calling them once a week to find out if they have received their shipment of blinds yet...and as of today 10/11/02, they are still telling me they are back-orderd. How can this be? We are now into our 3rd week of the waterfowl season and the corn is coming down! I am being told that is Avery is having a problem with customs. Is this true?? If so..when can we expect our blinds?

Barry,

The only thing I can add is I always suggest face masks because you never now what might get you "busted". When comes to the sablity issue, Freddie knows best! But the subject of lifting yourself out of the blinds with rails, with many compettitors blinds this simple act would severely damage the blind. Before we had finishers I would tell clients time after time not to apply any pressure to the side rails, but human nature alway prevailed and they would bend rails. Every year I would have to replace rails at a cost of roughly $25 per blind (10 blinds X $25 a blinds per year) it doesnt take long before I've wasted the cost of a new blind.

Wing Waivers - It is not customs but the West Coast dockworkers labor dispute that has hurt so bad. We were scheduled to receive several containers of blinds on Oct. 1 but now we have MULTIPLE containers of product that are stuck in several ports due to the labor strike/lockout by the dockworkers. The dockworkers strike/lockout has, literally, crippled our country more than most people realize. As I am sure you know from the national news, the president forced an end to the strike/lockout and digging through the backlog of ships began late last week. It began very slowly, but it has begun. Detailed tracking information has been extrememly poor coming out of the west coast but should improve over the next week.
All I can tell you is the second the containers arrive, we will ship the blinds as fast as we can.
In the meantime, please know that we are doing everything in our power to meet the wild demand our ground blinds have received this year.
